The Long Hiatus

OK, so we haven’t blogged in a long time. The good news is most of you keep up with us in other ways too, so the silence didn’t worry anyone . . . right?

Something has happened since June! Well, OK, lots happened. We’ll recap the last half of 2014 and the beginning of this year.

We’ve been studying, speaking, meeting, and traveling quite a bit. God has been prompting people to partner with us  in prayer and finances, and we have made lots of progress toward having enough monthly partnerships to move.  However, we still need monthly partners so it’s not too late to partner with us!

In other news, we’ve finished two courses and are working on finishing two more. Another big accomplishment was mailing in a very thick stack of immigration paper work. We are getting closer!

Where have we been? We’ve been based out of Oklahoma City, but we have traveled to North Carolina, Southern California, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Idaho and Jamaica (family vacation–thanks Mom and Dad!).

We have enjoyed quite a bit of time with my side of the family and have had the privilege of being with Jordan’s side of the family too. It was great having her parents and sister visit us. Other highlights were Jordan’s grandpa’s 90th birthday, spending Christmas with my side of the family, and being with our new niece (picture) and her parents.

What are we doing now?
Getting ready for a trip to Washington and British Columbia, and a move to Dallas in February (among lots of other things). And yes, stay tuned, because we are drafting several more blog posts.

We are so thankful for all you who pray for us on a regular basis.  We pray for you too, so keep us posted!

thankful for where we’re at

We’ve been in North Carolina for almost two months now and there is so much to be thankful for.  Here are five highlights:

  1. We’re so close to family.  Thousands of miles closer.  Come-over-just-for-dinner closer.
  2. There is so much more sun down here than what we used to get up in British Columbia.
  3. God blessed us with a  little cottage in the woods.
  4. After a busy season of grad school and working multiple jobs, we have had time to rest and recuperate.
  5. Getting to know Jordan better is one of my passions, and being together where she grew up is a great place for that.

Ned the Silver Bullet Goes East

Though he’d already taken us around 2,000 miles south, Ned was tireless and seemed more than willing to head east, since going any further south would mean going to Mexico. And we weren’t quite ready to leave the US again.

So we found the western-most part of an interstate which spans the country, west to east. We were both looking forward to being on this road, knowing that dear family members in two different states live just a few miles off of it. Ned made his second major turn, and we were on the road which would take us to our new home.

But not before a few stops. Needles, California; Flagstaff, Arizona; Gallup, New Mexico. For the most part nothing but open road, sunshine, coffee, semi-trucks, tumbleweeds, and some Louis L’Amour stories. And plenty of time to debrief and thank God for our time in our first home together. After a night in Albuquerque, we continued east anticipating our next stop and a day off the road at our parents’ home in OKC.

Feeling blessed by family and refreshed, we passed through Arkansas, then Memphis, and stopped to record our first album in Nashville. Just kidding, but that would be really neat. The next day was our final day on the road, and we passed through the Smoky Mountains as the road became gradually more and more familiar. No matter how long it’s been since I’ve seen them, signs for familiar towns make my heart a bit lighter. And then we pulled into our new driveway in Clemmons, soon to be warmly welcomed by family and an unusually warm, starry night. 4,085.6 miles later.
